CANDLES!!!!!

Problem Scenario

What candle type will sample the most pollution in the air?
to make our earth clean and less
pollution.

Broad Question

What type of candle will produce the most potion
in the air by burning time?

Specific Question

What type of candle: Plain, colored,or scented will burn
the fastest which will tell me which candle type is putting outt
the most pollution.

Hypothesis

I believe that colored will burn the slowest and lose mass the fastest.
Because it weights the most and that means that it has more ingredients
that will burn off, and become a smaller mass.

Variables

Independent Variable:Time the candles burn

Dependent Variable:Types of candles

Variables That Need To Be Control:Time the candles are burning,

Size of the candles.

Vocabulary List That Needs Explanation

General Plan:

My General plan is that I am going to test what candle types will burn the fastest
by the ingredients. For different times and different amounts of time. After the time period
is done I will mass the candle and see the difference over time and how much mass (g) Then
i will see which candle puts out the most potion and which candle type burns fastest.
In the benign of my science project i had to mass all my candles before they were burned. Then
i would burn all candles at the same time for the same amount of tie first i did ten min.then 20.
until i got to 40 min. After ever time i would blow out the candles and recorded the mass. each time
I record after the amount of time each candle became less mass. They weren't the same masses because
of the ingreadiants that were in the different types of candles. In the end i found that colored candles loosed
the most mass over time of being burned.

Potential Problems And Solutions
1)That something caught on fire. hopefully it wouldn't be a big fire and i could put out the fire with some water.
2)All the candles burn at the same time and don't loose any weight.Make some adjustment to my project.
3)

Safety Or Environmental Concerns

Fire. something will catch on fire.

Detailed Procedure

1)Collect the mass of each different type of candle before being burn.
2)Light all three of the different types of candles.
3)After 10 mins of being lit get a new mass of the candle.
4) After you fined the mass after you burned the candles for 10 mins then you will burn the same three types of candles 20 another 20 mins.
5)you will repeat this process until you get to 40 mins when you will get the final mass loss.
6) this information will tell you if what u had hypothesized is correct or if its not.

Results

During my science fair project I found that when I burned each candle over
time the mass changed because the candle was released soot which where
mass subtracted from the mass before burning... I did this to three different
types of candles scented, colored, and plain ass you can see with my table
that at the end colored candles were the one that released the most mass.
and colored was also the heaviest mass in the beginning before the burning
lab took place. The scented candle lost the less amount of mass which was
the opposite of what my hypothesis stated.

Conclusion

In the end. What i had hypothesized was incorrect I thought that scented candle
type would release the most pollution in the air, and would loose the most weight.
It didn't. Colored was the candle type that lost the most amount of mass over in 40 min.

Discussion

The patterns I saw while my experiment was in action was that every time i started the flame they wax would re-melt and then melt more which

Benefit to Community and/or Science

My science project could be helpful to people that don't want to pollute the air
. But still wont to burn candles my science
project tell the community that will tell you what the best

Background Research

The first candle was made from whale fat by the Chinese around the time of 221-206 BC
Today Candles are made from and they are used for light source and for the fumes that they
can put out. Some of the popular candles that are soy candles because the soy candles don't
out out any soot. which makes them different from all the other candle which also makes them
more money.Candles have changed a lot since BC.From whale to wax.
